Unlike what the movies teach you , demons do not respect crosses, holy water , shotguns or anything in the physical realm.
Please note : Any spirit or creature that bothers or makes contact with a human, and does not recognize Jesus Christ and the God of Isreal is a demon. Ghosts are just demons that take human form.
To defeat a demon you must call upon the name of Jesus and command it to leave with your voice, Shouting a little bit helps too. Even a non Christian can exercise some degree of power over demons through the name of Jesus.
say something like this.
"I REBUKE YOU DEMON IN THE NAME OF JESUS"
"DEPART FROM ME FOREVER IN JESUS'S NAME !"
"LEAVE NOW IN JESUS'S NAME"
(anything to this effect)
Prayer and keeping your faith up is essential, Faith is a very real substance in the physical realm and Faith in Jesus will shield you from spiritual attack (ephesians 6) . A demon can only do you grave harm if he makes you believe that he can harm you first ! Hence most attacks are on the mind through telepathy and voices before the body.
Keep praying despite the circumstance , and if need be command the demon to leave, do not give up even if it takes hours , in time the demon must flee. The scriptures say Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
If you are under continued demonic attack you may need to visit a good church (there are bad churches) where someone can lay hands on you and pray for you to be protected and delivered.
